Red Cross Vietnam

Just before taking my current job at SSIS, I was contracted by the International Red Cross Federation, the German Red Cross, and Red Cross Vietnam to shoot and produce a short documentary about the VCA project in central Vietnam. The Mai Hoa region is frequently hit hard by storms and flooding, and it is home to many disadvantaged people. Interestingly, this is also the area that saw the most intense bombing of the entire Vietnam War, largely due to its proximity to the 17th parallel, demarking North and South Vietnam. The VCA project was intended to analyze and improve upon Red Cross efforts to assist those in need—particularly the elderly, women, and people with disabilities—not only in the event of natural disasters, but empowering these groups to be more involved in prevention and preparation initiatives in the area.
