Though I’m not in a touring band anymore, I am always looking for opportunities to work on music projects. One of last year’s graduating students at SSIS is a talented and accomplished singer-musician. Leilanie told me that she would be taking a gap year after graduating from SSIS to work on her music performance portfolio. She wanted to focus on playing gigs around Saigon and the region, and work towards attending music school the next year.

New Podcast: The Dragon Dialogues!

I am so proud of this project! This year, in an effort to bring more attention to all that’s happening in our high school, the Admissions and Marketing Director and I have been working very hard on a few new initiatives. One of big ones is The Dragon Dialogues. This is a short, reality TV-style series of videos, following a group of five high schoolers over the course of the year. Each of them is at a different stage of high school; each has different interests and hobbies. They all have different hopes and concerns about their futures.

SSIS High School Engineering Challenge: Rock the Boat!

⛵🌊🛥🌊🚢🌊🚣There are already great things coming out of the new I.D.E.A. Center at Saigon South International School. Evan Weinberg—Secondary STEM Coordinator—recently came up with a new Engineering Challenge for his High School Robotics and Engineering Technology Class. The assignment: build a boat with limited time, limited materials, and limited revisions. Students were not only responsible for designing and assembling a boat with cardboard, duct tape, and just a few other items; but also testing their boat’s “seaworthiness” out on the water.
