There's not much I can share about this project... yet! But following the feedback from Part One of the Con Dao video series, with Dave Fox (www.globejotting.com) I'm in the process of putting together a second part. Depending on how much interest Dave and I can gauge about this issue, we are considering a longer-form documentary project about this fascinating place.
Last fall, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to northern Vietnam with a group of SSIS high schoolers on their annual “Week Without Walls” trip. This is the kind of learning I love, and I recently did a separate video for SSIS about just these types of trips. But while in Mai Chau, I took some time with the DJI Phantom 4 drone to get some great aerial shots. (more…)
I had the opportunity to travel to Côn Đảo Islands in April of 2016, to Côn Sơn Island (the largest in the Con Dao Islands Archipelago of Vietnam) with Saigon-based travel writer Dave Fox (http://www.globejotting.com). The result of our initial travel to Côn Đảo is Part One of this mini-documentary. We learned that Côn Đảo is much more than a tropical island destination; it is a place of both great horror and unique beauty. Since leaving Con Dao, we have spoken with several people intimately involved with this story. We will be telling their stories soon as well. (more…)
